The NSS was formed with an aim to inculcate the social welfare thoughts in the students, and to provide service to the society without any prejudice.
The National Service Scheme was launched in 1969. It aims at the involvement, mainly of undergraduate students on a voluntary basis in various activities of social serviced and national development which while making a contribution to socio-economic progress, would also provide opportunities to the students to understand and appreciate the problems of the communities, awaken social consciousness and inculcate in them sense of dignity of labor.
National Service Scheme was started during the Gandhi Centenary Year as it was Gandhiji who inspired the Indian Youth to participate in the movement for Indian independence and the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our nation.
The cardinal principle of the NSS program is that it is organised by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.
J.N.N along with NSS at Kits provide each student with a significant context in which the student can arrive at a deeper understanding of social reality in India today. J.N.N and the NSS encourages the meaning of life through service. The program gives students all the essential life skills to be at tackling the toughest of situations.
Our goal at J.N.N is to help students tackle the trickiest of situations from the skill they learn during the NSS program:
- Understand Social reality in India today.
- Get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.
- Make contribution to socio-economic progress.
Help students understand the problems of the communities
